Lazy E Ranch has been involved with shipping semen since 1995 and these guidelines were developed from this previous experience. In addition to the regular breeding fee, those requesting fresh cooled semen will incur the charges listed below. Please review these items and if you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.
- All fees including the stallion fee, Ranch cooled semen fee, courier and shipping charges and the Equitainer deposit must be pre-paid prior to any semen shipment. There will be no exceptions. For EACH semen shipment originating from Lazy E Ranch there will be a charge of $250.00 to the mare owner, this does not include courier and shipping charges, or the Equitainer deposit. Therefore, it is imperative, that your veterinarian be aware of your mare's current breeding status and that she is, in fact, ready to be bred. It is Lazy E Ranch's stated preference that all semen shipments be made to and inseminations performed at pre-approved established breeding farms. - The Lazy E Ranch's preference is to send semen using same day service via an airline, counter-to-counter, which services your area. The mare owner will be responsible for the courier charge for delivering the shipping container to the airport. The charge is $70.00 to $80.00 per trip. All shipping charges, by whatever method, are the responsibility of the mare owner.
- A deposit of $300.00 is required on the Equitainer in which the semen is shipped. Our preference is for the mare owner to secure this deposit with a credit card (we accept Visa and Master Card). This fee will not be charged to your credit card unless the equitainer is not returned in it's entirety - this means the coolant cans and the ballast MUST be returned with the container. Additionally, because of the cost of and demand for containers during breeding season, ALL containers must be returned by NEXT DAY AIR (Fed-X, UPS, Avery, etc.). If the container is not returned and/or has not arrived at Lazy E Ranch on the 3rd day post-shipment from Lazy E Ranch, then a late fee of $100.00 will be placed on your credit card.
Also, please remember:
- ALL requests for semen must be made by 10:00 a.m. Central Time, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays included.
- A contract for cooled semen does not guarantee that semen will be available on the day you submit your request.
- Semen may only be requested on regularly scheduled Lazy E Ranch breeding days (breedings days are every other day, including Saturday and Sunday). Click here to view the 2008 collection schedule. Stallions will not be collected on a non-breeding day. No exceptions will be made.
- Cooled semen bookings will be, by necessity, of limited availability on those stallions whose book fills with mares to be bred on the premises of Lazy E Ranch.
- Have your veterinarian contact Lazy E Ranch at least 2 days PRIOR to when he believes he will need semen for your mare. This will help us to plan for your potential needs for semen. Our resident veterinarian is Dr. Bryant Craig and should your veterinarian have questions please feel free to have him contact Dr. Craig at 405-282-3437.
Good communication between all parties is vital to successful cooled semen shipment and insemination.
Also, please don't forget to have your veterinarian to complete the AQHA Insemination Report that will be sent with your semen shipment and return it to Lazy E Ranch PROMPTLY. You will be unable to register your foal until this document is properly executed !
